AWEBER REVIEW

This autoresponder email service provider has been around since 1998 and anyone who is doing email marketing should consider putting Aweber on their list of potential service providers.

Autoresponders are used as e-mail marketing tool to immediately provide information to prospective customers and to follow-up with automated emails sent out at preset time intervals

I invite you to take a look at my Aweber Review to see if Aweber is the right service for you…

WHOSE IT FOR?

Almost anyone can use Aweber, especially Affiliate Marketers, as it’s one of the few email service providers that’s friendly to affiliate marketers.

For years, Aweber has been primarily involved in the online marketing industry they answer questions on forums, they have great support and they have a lot of great training videos. They have a vested interest in helping online marketers succeed.

Price

Aweber pricing starts at $19 per month, and it goes up from there depending on how many subscribers you have.  As you can see, the core features are included at all pricing levels:

Aweber

How AWeber Compares with Other Providers

Don’t let the price put you off. It’s a little more expensive that many other providers, but it does have some features that more than compensates for the slightly higher price.

The most important of which is that is one of the very few email services that are affiliate-marketing friendly. Meaning they won’t suddenly close your account because you experience an increase in emails going out due to a popular offer you make to your clients. They understand the affiliate marketing business.

How does Aweber stack up to other major email service providers?

Take a look…

The majority of them are professional designs that you can send at any time to any list. You’re sure to find something to suit your needs.

Aweber

If you don’t find what you want, Aweber’s design pros will also develop a custom template for you. (This is a separate service that comes with an extra charge.)

Sign up form templates: Yes.

Aweber lets you pick from hundreds of sign-up form templates which are suitable for a variety of industries and even particular events (such as holiday forms). These templates are click and point easy, so you don’t need to know any coding to swap out different colors, font styles and so on.

Aweber

API available?  Yes.

Blog broadcast (RSS to email):  Yes.

ADVANCED AUTOMATION FEATURES:

List Segmentation: Yes.

Aweber gives you the tools to segment your list in multiple ways…

 Aweber

List Segmentation

You can segment your Aweber list according to subscriber behavior. For example, you can segment according to who opens a particular email and/or who clicks on a specific link in a particular email.

You can also segment your list according to the last message a subscriber opened, when they joined your list, where they are in your autoresponder sequence, and if they’ve opened your initial series emails and/or clicked on the links.

You can also segment according to any information collected during the registration process, such as custom fields. Aweber also gives you the ability to segment by location (according to the subscriber’s IP at the time they joined your list).

AUTOMATION RULES:

Yes, but limited. You can only create rules around subscriptions and unsubscriptions.

Basically, Aweber automation offers you the ability to create three rules:

  1. Subscribe-on-subscribe. This means that if someone subscribes to one particular list, they’re automatically subscribed to another one of your lists.

For example, perhaps someone joins one of your list segments as a result of signing up to a webinar. You can then automatically add them to your main list too.

  1. Subscribe-on-unsubscribe. The idea here is that if someone subscribes to one of your lists, they automatically get unsubscribed from another. For example, if you place someone on your customer list, then they’ll automatically get unsubscribed from your prospect list.
  1. Unsubscribe-on-unsubscribe. If someone unsubscribes to one of your lists, you can apply a rule that they’re unsubscribed from one or more of your other lists.

Aweber

Note that only one rule can be triggered at a time.

Tagging: Yes.

You can use the ‘AWtomator‘ tool to start using the tagging feature. For example, you can automatically tag people after they finish an autoresponder sequence or after they click a link. You can then send messages to anyone who has been tagged. You can even trigger a campaign.

Split Testing: Yes.

Aweber split testing include subject lines, content, templates, HTML vs plain text emails, links and even the sign-up form.

Aweber Autoresponder review

SMS/Text Messaging: No.

Visual Campaign Building Tools: No.

Lead Scoring: No.

CRM: Yes. Aweber integrates with SalesForce.

INTEGRATION WITH THIRD-PARTY APPS

Aweber integrates with over 70 apps, including those related to social media, landing pages, shopping carts and more. You’ll also find that it integrates with the most popular apps, including Zapier, Shopify, PayPal, WordPress, Facebook and many more.Aweber

 SUPPORT

Aweber provides both help desk support as well as live chatting support. With live chatting you’ll get almost instant support, whereas with the help desk route you can generally expect a response within a few hours during normal business hours.

DELIVERABILITY

Aweber deliverability is superb with a 98% deliverability rate, which is one of the highest in the industry. They have a very good reputation in this regard, and they’re constantly working hard to make sure your emails get to their intended recipients.

As for my own experiences?  I have never had any issues and overall I’ve been happy with their services

CONCLUSION

Aweber Bottom Line: Pros and Cons

PROS:

  • Templates: lots of templates for both your newsletter and sign up form.
  • Creating new forms is fast and easy with their three-step process.
  • Newbie friendly platform.
  • Aweber deliverability is excellent.
  • Aweber is one of the very few email services that are affiliate-marketing friendly.

Hi Peter; thanks for your post on A Webber. To be truthful, I do not Navy a email marketing on my website as yet. I have read a lot about A Webber’s Autorispondets so as about many others offering similar service. However, after reading your post I have made it up in my mind to use A Webber’s service when ever I am ready to set up my email marketing. Would you suggests that I wait until my website get off the ground before I set up email marketing? DorcasW

    • Peter

Hello, DorcasW.  I know one of the regrets that most people have about building their email list is not starting soon enough. But starting to build one later is better than not building one at all. Aweber is a good choice so whenever you start it will be ok. Thanks for your comments.:)

Very informative Peter, I have never used Aweber personally for my business before but from your information, I think I would love to give it a try just to learn more about email segmentation something I have always wondered how to go about. Will bookmark this site and visit for more understanding thanks.

    • Peter

Hello and thank you for your comments. Yes, Weber is a good autoresponder and it will be very useful once you get it set up and implemented. I certain it will greatly enhance your business. It does have a thirty day trial so you can judge it for yourself before you need to commit to it. Enjoy the eBook that is coming your way. 🙂

I have been using aweber since 2013 and they are one of the best autoresponder providers around. I think for a beginner , this might be more user friendly than the others. The only downside they implemented lately was -removing single optins. Those of us with old account can still have single optins, but new account is only double optins. that was my understanding, unless I am mistaken.

    • Peter

Hello, Patrick. You are correct they require double optins, and it is a bit more difficult to import contacts from other lists due to anti-spam regulations. But other than that it is a great autoresponder service provider. Thanks for your comments. 🙂

  • greg2112

I’ve been looking into Aweber for some time as it seems the best. I just have a few questions.

Can I import email lists that I have from other email list services?

Can I have multi-list for different markets? Say one for making money online and one for music?

    Thanks,
    Greg

    • Peter

Hello, Greg2112.  Importing emails lists from other lists is something they look at very hard they want you to verify the list and get your ‘list’ to resubscribe to the new service provider. It’s the only thing that is a pain. Thanks for your comments. 🙂

  • flowstash

The sign-up form templates are a big plus for me. The fact that I don’t have to mess with coding means a lot.

I’m considering starting an email list. It’s one of the things I have been considering for a while. I just never knew how to go about it.

Hey, when you say that Aweber has a ” affiliate-marketing friendly” email service, what does that mean exactly?

    • Peter

Hello, Flowstash. Aweber is ‘affiliate friendly’ because they won’t suddenly shut you down because you are sending out a ton of emails to your subscribers. They understand your business and realise that sending emails is what you might do. Thanks for your comments and please enjoy the eBook I am sending your about List Building. 🙂

  • RichPersonality

    • Peter
